Nancy Goldberg for Culver City School Board Campaign Committee
Dear neighbors,
My many years of teaching and working in the Culver City School District make me realize that I have the expertise and commitment to serve on the Culver City School Board.
After graduating from UCLA I began my career with CCUSD in 1969 as a substitute teacher. A few months later I was offered a contract to teach English at Culver City Middle School where I also enjoyed sponsoring the Tap Dancing and Ice Skating Clubs. A few years later I transferred to the High School where I remained until my retirement this year. I have taught Journalism, English, Reading, and U.S. History, as well as AP courses.
My first AP class was a combination U.S. History and English Language and Composition course called American Civilization. As interest in the AP classes at the high school increased, I focused on the English component and was an advocate for the expansion of the AP program.
During my tenure with Culver City High School I have served as sponsor for the Sophomore and Junior Classes, and many activities including: Penstrokes, Latinos Unidos, and the Korean Club; I had the privilege of being Senior Class Advisor from 2003 to 2011.
I currently serve as a consultant for the College Board and participate in the annual readings and scorings of AP essays from all over the country.
In many ways serving on the Culver City School Board is a logical transition. It will allow me to share my expertise, dreams, and enthusiasm with the community, and in time become part of the culture of the Culver City Schools.
